Mini-Shoots will continue for 2021
Families
Family Shoots:

So often, family pictures are a staged studio shoot, where it is meticulously planned and positioned resulting in an unnatural surreal moment. I like to take the shoot as they interact with each other and most importantly make it fun, this has resulted in totally candid moments with natural expressions and a spirit that is a much truer reflection of the characters in front of me. Parents love the fact that there are moments and expressions that they have never perceived in their children always perfect for a canvas on the wall.

The Bluebell Woods Sessions:
2022
Locations: Oxfordshire

Whilst the bluebells were out this year in Bagley Woods, Oxfordshire, I ran an in situ day for families to have a 30 minute mini shoot amongst the  bluebells.

The Edwards Family Mini-Shoot:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

Alex and Gareth gave birth to baby Dylan just 8 days prior to the shoot and they wanted some outdoor shots whilst Dylan was still very young, so we chose a sunny day and headed over to the Abbey Meadows in Abingdon which provides some lovely natural backgrounds for a family shoot. Grandma decided to come along as well.

In their own words:

" They are beautiful Martin! Love them. Thank you xx"

The Edwards Family Christmas Shoot:
2021

Location: Oxfordshire

As Dylan grew up, the family decided they wanted a Christmas family shoot as a follow up to the previous session. Every year I hold 3 days of Christmas shoots in Abingdon where almost 80 families come to have their festive photo sessions.

The Guimaraes Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

Early on during the lockdown last year, restrictions only allowed for doorstep photo shoots, so when the Guimaraes family booked me, I noticed that next to their house there were some lovely poppies growing and thought it may prove a different backdrop to their front door step.

The whole family were captured together but I always make a point of letting each member of the family have pictures of themselves.

In their own words:

" You made our overgrown alleyway look like a wonderful wild flower garden! "

The Hamp Family:
2021

Location: Millets' Farm

The Hamp Family's final shoot of their baby's first year sessions took us to Millet's Farm to allow Ivy to pick her her very first pumpkin. It is such a great place for kids and parents alike and allows for some very happy smiley natural photos.

In their own words:

"I'm in love with them . Omg I've just seen them I absolutely love them, thank you so much"

The Allott Family:
2020

Location: Harwell

The Allott Family asked for a mini shoot at theirs during lockdown last year to celebrate their young lad's first birthday. With restrictions in place, he was not able to have an actual party but every effort was made to celebrate.

In their own words:

"Lovely to meet you too! Thanks so much for coming out and taking these lovely photos! They capture him and us beautifully! "

2021
One year on, and I was asked to return for Kai's second birthday which this time had a few of the family present to share the joy of his special day.

In their own words:

"Amazing photos! You’ve captured him so well! Thank you!! "

The Feates Family:
2020

Location: Harwell

The Feates Family asked for a mini shoot at a local park in Harwell with both boys. One of the boys was not so keen and quite often you have to adapt the way you interact in order to encourage participation. We got there in the end.

In their own words:

"You really did it! I just ordered a large canvas of us all and smaller canvas for the boys rooms im very happy! Thankyou!!! ."

The Roberts Family:
2020

Location: Sutton Courtenay

The Roberts Family contacted me as she had four little ones she wanted to capture together, unfortunately dad was away for work so I tried to ensure all his little ones were up for it.

In their own words:

" Thank you so much, I love them, you did a fab job"

The Mundy Family:
2020

Location: Grove

The Mundy family booked me for a family mini shoot and wanted to include the dog in some of the photos, we ended up including the cat as well.

In their own words:

" Thank you so much for today, we had a great time and felt totally at ease. You were great with Grace as she is a bit shy. Owh my, they are amazing, would love to book you again. Really pleased with them, thank you ever so much."

 Kara's Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

Kara wanted family pictures during the first lockdown outside her home and nearby. Four of her children were there ready to go and the eldest son turned up towards the end with his girlfriend whom we managed to incorporate in the shoot. Sometimes flexibility is required to adapt for additional photos. With each mini shoot, I always send a small collage photo the same day as a taster.

In their own words:

" Thank you so much, I am so pleased we managed to get them all :-) "

The Long Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

Throughout lockdown and the easing of restrictions, families really wanted to have photos captured of their children enjoying themselves, whether in a park or in their garden. The Long family initially asked for a mini shot in Albert Park, always a great park to let the kids run free.

In their own words:

" They're gorgeous, thank you so much. "

The Hanson Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Hanson family had not long been in their new home and all the children were going to be together on the day of the shoot, so I was asked if we could do some family photos in the wooded area next to the house.

In their own words:

" Thank you so much, they are amazing. We are so happy with them and have already spread the word. "

The Harris Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

Quite often, special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries are used as the reason for a family shoot. It was Jayde's birthday and she wanted to have family photos with her little ones and her family so we used  her garden and surroundings for the shoot.

In their own words:

" They are so lovely, thank you, I really appreciate it "

The Drew Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Drew family had all been separated for a while and mum Janice wanted a few photos of all of them together before they all went their separate ways again. Due to restrictions, their home was used as their location.

In their own words:

" Downloaded them and shared with the children. I really like them, every one really enjoyed it, and we can see how even Katie warmed to it. I love the ones of the children altogether, and then with me. I've actually enjoyed having everyone home, so it's a beautiful record for me. Thank you. "

The Norris Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Norris family asked for a family shoot and due to restrictions, we had to use their back garden for the photos which helped as the children were in a familiar setting so very quickly settled into play mode. It can take a little time for kids to forget that they are in a photo shoot situation especially when you are trying to capture candid moments.

In their own words:

" Thank you so much, there are so many photos. You are an amazing photographer "

The Goodsell Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Goodsell family wanted a family shoot with their grown up children as lockdown had prevented them from seeing each other for some time and they wanted a few memories of them all being back together. I chose a picturesque location by the River Ock in Abingdon as the backdrop.

In their own words:

" They are fantastic Martin, thank you so much. Really pleased with them"

The Hanisch Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

Every year I am asked for Father's day photoshoots to allow a dad and their child(ren) to get some photos together as a memento of their day. The Hanisch family wanted exactly that, so I used a little woodland walk in the centre of Abingdon as the backdrop.

In their own words:

" So sweet, they are gorgeous Martin "

The Rowe Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

During Lockdown, The Rowe family asked me if I was able to do a socially distanced shoot in their back garden in order to have positive memories of their time together during these difficult times. Whenever I do a family shoot, I will always capture the whole family but I also make a point of letting each family member have a few photos by themselves.

In their own words:

" We love, love, love. Highly recommend Martin do not hesitate to get booked. Such a fun shoot capturing us at home. Thank you so much "

The Woodley Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Woodley family wanted to treat their father/grandfather to a photo shoot for father's day, so they booked a father's day shoot with me. When it comes to children interacting with their grandfather, it is always such a pleasure to capture the interaction between the generations.

In their own words:

"I booked a shoot with Martin for a Father's Day present for my Dad from the kids. I haven't met Martin before but as soon as we met we were talking as if we had known each other for years! that's so important when choosing a photographer as you need to be able to connect with them! Martin was great with the kids, and was really calm throughout and took some beautiful natural shots! He was so chatty and friendly and that made the whole session perfect! We have seen our preview photos which we all love! now I can't wait to see the rest! Thank you Martin!"

The Morrison Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Morrison family wanted to enjoy the fact that we had just come out of the first lockdown by having a family photo shoot which included the grandparents, a two year old and new born twins in their garden. With newborns especially twins it is never an easy task to get them both to look at you at the same time, however a few tricks of the trade can achieve results.

In their own words:

"We had a family doorstep photo shoot with Martin on 4th July, just after lockdown restrictions were reduced. Martin was very response to messages and made the photo shoot itself effortless (not easy with grandparents, parents a two year old and new born twins). We are delighted with the outcome and would unreservedly recommend Martin."

The Groom Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Grooms were celebrating their eldest's 4th birthday and invited me along to the small gathering to get a few socially distanced shots of the family party. When one of the children has their birthday, it is always a good idea to make a fuss of the other sibling as well.

In their own words:

"Just had a chance to take a proper look at them, they are great! Really thrilled with them, thanks so much! "

The Hall Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Hall family wanted a more recent family photo as well as some individual ones of both their daughter and newborn son. I find that in order to get the children to be themselves, having them have a little running race often gets them more relaxed and can sometimes capture some wonderfully candid expressions, especially when there is an older sibling, giving them their own spotlight really does help the shoot.

In their own words:

" The photos are amazing, thank you so much. "

The Smith Family:
2020

Location: Oxfordshire

The Smith family with their adorable twins who were turning one approached me to have a family shoot by the river Thames as they had not yet had any photos of all of them together. It was a real challenge to ensure we had an equal amount of photos of each twin as they were so alike.

In their own words:

" Oh Martin. They are absolutely wonderful "

The Weston Family:
2020/2021

Location: Oxfordshire

The Weston family had an individual family shoot last year during lockdown and wanted another one this year with all three parts of the family including the 6 dogs as a gift for their mother who is turning 60.

In their own words:

"OMG. They are amazing, I absolutely love them."

The Slater Family:
2020/2021

Location: Oxfordshire

The Slaters have had several photoshoots with me over the last year for different occasions. The most recent shoot was to capture the grandparents coming to visit after many months without seeing their grandchildren. Albert Park provided a beautiful backdrop for the session.

In their own words:

"Gorgeous pics. Thank you. Two very happy grandparents!"

The Taylor Family:
2021

Location: Oxfordshire

The Taylors approached me to have a mini shoot as they hadn't had any photos together for a long time and wanted to have some shots done of the three of them with the dogs. We headed to the folly ruins in Abingdon which always give a good backdrop for both posed and candid photos.

In their own words:

"This is so worth it! We had ours last weekend and could not be happier with the results."

The Derry Family:
2020/2021

Location: Oxfordshire

The Derry Family have spent the last year getting used to their new arrival who has been captured several times already in the last year. The most recent shoot was booked to capture the moment the family branch from Leeds came to visit for the first time since the birth of their little niece/cousin.

In their own words:

"Amazing! Thank you so much "

The Heaths:
Location: Abingdon Meadow

As a gift for granny, the family approached me to capture all the grandchildren together in a natural setting. Quite often experience helps when thinking of locations, and somewhere to run about is perfect for outdoor shoots.

In their own words:

" The whole family loved them, they are so natural and we will treasure them. "

The Lagarrigues:

Location: Home shoot, Oxfordshire

On this occasion, the shoot was indoors and I had set up my studio as they wanted very artistic black & white classical shots in mind. It is always important to know exactly what is required.

In their own words:

"
"I asked Martin if he could take a portrait but the way I wanted: artistic pics with a black background and playing with the lights to create some shadows on faces. I could see he  technically knew his camera, I was sure I would get the effect I wanted. I was right! Amazing results. I am pretty picky regarding photography and the only criticism I could make is the photo shoot went too quick! On top of that, he offered to come directly to my house, to make sure my 2 children will be comfortable during this exercise. It is not evident to stay natural in front of a camera but Martin managed to give us idea to strike a pose and then, it became a game! Many thanks for your kindness Martin."

The Patels:
Location: Didcot , Oxfordshire

In their own words:

"Could not thank Martin enough for helping us make memories for our princesses 3rd Birthday. Martin not only maintained professionalism throughout the shoot but also made Ambar (3 years old) comfortable, allowing her to play and just be a child whilst he snapped away catching some precious moments in the background, there were no pressure of posing, etc which she would have hated. He's a natural with kids. Absolutely talented photographer, amazing work. The images where breathtaking, one very emotional mummy."

The Rivers:
Location: Oxfordshire

She wanted to use her garden as the back drop for a shoot, again a lot of fun was had, as the kids ran riot around the garden. I always find it's good to let them have fun first and take some silly ones, then they are much more likely to respond.

In their own words:

"Martin has done a fantastic job with the photos he took of my family. He is such a nice guy and got the children engaged in what they were doing and found various ways to make them smile. I would highly recommend and will be using him again."

As part of my services, a client bought a gift voucher for a family shoot that she wanted to giver to her sister as a Christmas present. It is always a pleasure to capture moments knowing that this has been given with love and the results are always so much more relaxed.

In their own words:

"
Thank you again for your time and patience, wish Freddie was a bit more lively for the camera but hey ho, you captured some ace shots of him! Really pleased with the black & white copies too! Thank you so much for doing them as well. "

The Redferns/Travis's:

Location: Sittingbourne, Kent

In their own words:

Totally nails whatever it is you are looking for in your pictures.. Totally recommend to anyone who will listen 100% very good value for money too!!"

The Herse Family:
Location: Oxfordshire
2019

The Herse family reached out to me off the back of a recommendation as they were looking for a photographer who could capture candid shots of their 11 month old son and the grandparents who were visiting. We chose the grounds of Radley College as it provided plenty of space for their rather large Alsatian.

In their own words:
